Read to the end for tips.... (and a little bath recipe concoction)

Living with fibromyalgia...

Fibromyalgia is quite an unspoken illness that many suffer from.
I developed fibromyalgia at the age of 16. It is a neurological disorder that is trauma and stress-induced. It's living with chronic pain...Your body pain is just unbearable sometimes ...

Unfortunately, there is no cure for this awful illness...
However, if you can manage your stress levels that helps immensely.

Fibro also gets hugely affected by the weather.
If I'm too hot, my pain is severe; if I'm cold, my pain is unbearable.
Imagine not being able to move and use your hands and arms.
Can't cut your food, Can't hold your cup of coffee, Can't type, Can't brush your hair, Can't write, Can't hold your phone, Can't get dressed by yourself, Can't do much of anything...

But we push through, We push through the pain
Some days can be so unbearable that you cry ... cry and cry...Cry from pain and cry from frustration...
I developed this due to all the traumas I suffered as a child through to high school.

Something people don't realize is that stress and trauma can affect your Physical health on another level ...

And the sad part is these things can become lifelong illnesses

We can manage and deal with our stress but there will always be factors throughout our lives that can flare these things up.

But it doesn't mean you cannot manage and deal with it.
Yes, some days you'll say f*ck it I'm not going to do anything today and you then rest.
Rest is good-In fact rest is the best thing to do.

You can try a couple of home remedies to help the pain and flare-ups too.
And then of course stress management.
If you long term work on stress management the fibro will be a hell of a lot better!

Symptoms of fibromyalgia are many; headaches, chronic fatigue, widespread pain, muscular stiffness, insomnia, extra sensitivity to pain, sensitivity to sound and light, feeling weak and lack of energy, and more.

6 tips you can try:

1. Epsom salt baths

2. Constantly work on deep breath work

3. Calming meditations - guided or not (I prefer guided)

4. Chamomile tea and even using the essential oils in your bath as it's anti-inflammatory

5. Lavender scents to help calm you (lavender oil with chamomile oil together in a bath is great too)

6. Heat when it's cold (hot water bottle or beanbag) / Cold when it's hot (ice packs) - some people get affected by both

...

BATH RECIPE:

  • 1-2 cups of Epsom salts (depends on how full your bath is/how big etc) usually 1 and a half cups)
  • 3-4 drops of chamomile essential aromatherapy oil (skin-safe)
  • 3-4 drops of lavender essential aromatherapy oil (skin-safe)
  • then only if desired you may also add 2 drops of peppermint or eucalyptus  essential aromatherapy oil (skin safe)

Side note: Epsom salt does detox the body- which can cause a headache when staying in the bath for too long, I suggest drinking lots of water before bathing and after. Do not lay in the bath longer than 15-20 min (use warm water, not boiling hot.

Enjoy!

It is possible to do the things!

You can work through it!

You can manage it!

You are fully capable of coping!

Remember that if you focus more on the pain your thoughts will make it worse.
So try to distract yourself and remember to rest up!

REST IS THE MAIN FACTOR - LISTEN TO YOUR BODY!!!

...I see you, I hear you, I understand you!

Love and light always, Nikki xoxo
